Chief Hutter has been a resident of Bonner County for over 33 years and has lived in the City of Ponderay for over 20 of those years. He started his law enforcement career with the Bonner County Sheriff's Office in 1988 as a Patrol Deputy. In July of 1990, he took a position with the Sandpoint Police Department as a Patrol Officer. In May of 1997, he accepted a position with the Ponderay Police Department as Chief of Police and continues in that capacity.
He currently holds a Management Certificate with Idaho Peace Officer's Standards and Training (POST). He is a certified instructor in Firearms, a Tactical Team Instructor and a Taser Master Instructor.
