The patrol area of the City of Ponderay currently consists of a little over 2.7 square miles. The Ponderay Police Department provides services to a resident population of 1,137 and a daily business population of 8,000 to 10,000. The Patrol Division of the Ponderay Police Department consists of four officers whose primary duties are patrol of the city.

The Patrol Division of the Ponderay Police Department enforces the laws of the State of Idaho, Bonner County and the City of Ponderay. They conduct routine patrol of the City of Ponderay while answering calls for service, conducting criminal investigations and traffic safety enforcement.
