Lockout Service
Officers of the Ponderay Police Department, barring priorities, will respond to your location within the City of Ponderay and gain entry into your vehicle for you. This is a service that the Ponderay Police Department provides for its residents and visitors alike at no charge.

Please be prepared to have identification and proof of ownership available for the officer.

Security Checks
A security check involves a random check of a closed business during the nighttime hours to ensure the safety and security of the facility. This is accomplished by walking around the perimeter of the building, checking all windows and doors to make sure that they are shut and locked and otherwise looking for signs of entry or possible security issues. The Ponderay Police Department conducts random security checks on the roughly 200 businesses that are located within the City of Ponderay. No requests or other action are necessary from the businesses. This is a service that the Ponderay Police Department provides at no cost for our business owners.

Vin Inspections
VIN inspections are required on any vehicle that you wish to register in Idaho that have not been previously registered in this state. The Ponderay Police Department conducts VIN Inspections at no cost to the public within the City Limits of Ponderay. Either bring your vehicle to us or call the office and arrange to have an officer respond to where your vehicle is located. Ensure that you have the signed title and a picture identification available for the officer.

Vacation Checks
A vacation check is requested when residents will be out of the area for an extended period of time. The Ponderay Police Department conducts Vacation Checks on homes at the request of the home owners at least once per day. We will need such information as when you are planning to leave, when you are planning to return, an emergency phone number to reach you at, who to contact in case of an emergency, if there will be any vehicles left at your residence, whether or not any pets have been left and who might be taking care of your residence while you are gone. It is also extremely important for you to let us know when you have returned.
